	UMC Tutoring/Mentoring Program
	Plans are moving forward to continue the after-school tutoring/mentoring program during the fall of 2009. Tentative plans call for the program to start in October.

	Would you like to volunteer? There are a variety of volunteer opportunities and training will be provided for all volunteers: Tutors for one or two days per week (we realize you may have an occasional need for absence.) Substitute tutors (you will be put on a list to sub when the regular tutors are unavailable.) Organize library and rest of room in September. Food preparation volunteer Serve on Advisory Planning Committee Call or e-mail Jim or Janet Garrett (684-4056 or jgarrett1436@att.net) with questions or to be put on the list for volunteers or substitutes. You will be notified about training times.
Many thanks to all the Wesley and St. Paul's UMC church members and community volunteers who helped make the pilot program a sucess last spring. We tutored 13 elementary school students and saw many signs of improvement in academic and social skills.
